St. Bonifacius, Minn. – The Crown College women's soccer team hosted Gustavus Adolphus College on Tuesday night, in their final non-conference game of the 2014 season. After a tightly contested first half that was much closer than the 2-0 margin, Gustavus blew the game open with four second half goals en route to a 6-0 victory.
Hillary Brondsema gave a valiant effort in the loss, making 18 saves on the night, but was done in by some shaky defending, an own goal, and a penalty.
Megan Wright and
Monika Russell provided some exciting moments as each player nearly scored on the counterattack, but those chances came down as near misses and Crown was unable to score for third straight game.
The Storm will dive back in to conference play this weekend as they travel to Northland and St. Scholastica for two more UMAC matches.
