Duluth, Minn. – The Crown College football team traveled to Duluth, Minnesota to play the St. Scholastica Saints in their second conference game this season. The game could not have started better as the Crown defense forced an immediate three and out. The offense did their part embarking on a 10 play, 67 yard drive highlighted by a 26 yard run by
Brandon McCormick (Edwards, Ill.) before
Matt Michaud (Woodbury, Minn.) punched it in from two yards out.
The 7-0 lead was short lived however as the Saints would rattle off 48 unanswered points as the Crown offense and defense fell silent. The Storm never responded as the final score would read 48-14.
Crown was outgained 468 yards to 213 in a game that looked nothing like the 24-14 slugfest from a year ago. Crown was led on offense by Michaud with 21 carries for 85 yards and two touchdowns while
Jalen Phoenix (Cincinatti, Ohio) had 11 tackles to lead the defense.
Crown will return home to KleinBank Stadium for Homecoming against Northwestern this next Saturday with kickoff set for 7:00 p.m.
