Crown Rolls to Fourth Win in a Row

St. Bonifacius, Minn. - In their last game of the 2014 season, the Crown Storm were looking to avenge last year's three point, heartwrenching defeat to the Eureka Red Devils of Eureka, Illinois.  Crown was riding a three game win streak heading into Saturday's game, and never let this one be in doubt as they cruised to a 44-21 victory.

Crown's defense was staunch all day forcing a three and out on the very first possession and holding Eureka to 13 first downs all game.  Crown's offense capatalized on a nine play, 65 yard drive to put the first score on the board with a Matt Michaud touchdown run.  Crown's defense again held strong as the offense tacked on two 48 yard touchdown runs by both Michaud and Josh Edlund to make the score 21-0 in the second quarter.

Eureka answered with a two minute drill touchdown with 34 seconds left to make the score 21-7, but Elijah Bryant took the air out of the Red Devils with a blazing 88 yard kickoff return for a touchdown to make the score 28-7 in favor of Crown at the break.  Joel Silva would end the half with the first of his three interceptions on the day, a Crown single game record.

Eureka threatened only slightly in the third returning a Crown fumble for a touchdown to narrow the score to 28-14, but Crown would punch another touchdown in on the next drive to make it a three score game once again.  Eureka answered, but was put away for good when Drew Zoromski sacked the Eureka quarterback for a safety and giving Crown great field position for their final touchdown.

On the day, Crown rushed for 441 yards, second in team history.  Michaud had 216 yards while Edlund contributed 146 on the ground.  Defensively, Crown held the Red Devils to 199 total yards on the day and captured four interceptions.  Drew Zoromski and Zach Jusczak led the defense with 9 and 6 tackles respectively as they both tallied a sack.  Crown also had almost 41 minutes of possession time.

Crown finished the season at 4-6, 4-5 in UMAC play.  A full season recap will be posted shortly.
