Duluth, Minn. – The Crown volleyball team wrapped up their 2014 season on Saturday with a 3-0 loss at St. Scholastica. The weekend wasn't all sour, however, as the Storm defeated Northland College in three sets on Friday night.
Senior
Katie Herrmann led Crown with 10 kills against the Lumber Jills, while
Kelsey Roschen had a team best 17 assists. The Storm hit .090 while holding Northland to just a .009 mark thanks in large part to eight total blocks on the night.
Crown's defense was very solid, with
Katie Hinkle recording a team best three block assists and
Sam Brueggeman leading a balanced defensive effort with nine digs.
The match against St. Scholastica on the season's final day wouldn't be as smooth a ride, as the Storm were held to just 10 kills after recording 31 the night before. The Saints hit over .500 points better, coming in at an extremely efficient .444 over three sets.
Crown finishes in sixth place in the UMAC for the second straight year, finishing with a 5-20 record overall. A full recap of the 2014 season will be published soon.
