Jacob Van Dam

Coach Van Dam enters his first season as the Head Assistant Coach for the Polars men's basketball program. A dual-sport athlete, Van Dam competed in both basketball and baseball over the past five years as a student-athlete at the college.

During his basketball career, he served as a three-year team captain and was named All-Conference once. He played a key role in the Polars’ 2021–22 campaign, helping lead the team to a conference runner-up finish. Over 112 career games, Van Dam totaled 1,025 points, 359 rebounds, and 175 assists. He also holds a share of the program record for most three-pointers made in a single game with eight.

Van Dam brings strong leadership, high-level playing experience, and a deep understanding of the program’s culture to the coaching staff. He will also serve as Assistant Athletic Director for Communications and Operations.

Coaching Mission
  • Basketball is more than a game—it’s an opportunity to glorify God. As a coach, my mission is to lead by example as a Christ-centered mentor to the athletes I’m privileged to guide. Each day, we will approach the game with passion, purpose, and a commitment to excellence, working hard as God has called us to, while fully enjoying the gift of playing this sport. Athletes will grow not only as competitors but as individuals who understand the true meaning of discipline, respect, and integrity—both on and off the court.
