St Bonifacius, MN — On a dreary Homecoming Saturday at Crown College, the Polars turned in a strong opening half against the University of Wisconsin-Superior before the Yellowjackets pulled away in the second half for a 3-0 result.
The afternoon began with a special moment on campus as the rain cleared just after the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Teal Athletic Center, setting the stage for the 1 p.m. match. With the Homecoming atmosphere still buzzing, Crown stepped onto the field ready for a tough test against a strong Superior program. The Polars rose to the challenge in the opening 45 minutes. Crown matched the Yellowjackets with energy and discipline throughout the first half, keeping the match scoreless at 0-0 heading into halftime. The Polars showed composure defensively and made Superior work for every opportunity.
In the second half, the Yellowjackets found another gear and applied steady pressure in the attacking third. Superior finished with 15 shots in the half and broke through for three goals to claim the 3-0 win.
The Polars will look to build on their performance when they return to the field Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. to host Bethany Lutheran.
