Dundas, MN - The Polars softball team faced off with the Carleton Knights in a doubleheader on Saturday falling in both by scored of 14-5 and 5-3.
A double from
Abbey Underdahl gave Crown their first run of the game scoring
Madi Hecox and the Polars tied the score at 1 going into the bottom of the secodn inning. Crown struggled early giving up 8 runs in the first two innings, seven of them coming in the bottom half of the second. Lilienthal hit her first home run of the year and added 3 RBIs knocking in
Itzel Valles and
Maliya Martinez cutting the Knights lead to 8-4. Crown struggled to keep up with the scoring dropping the first game 14-5 in 4 innings.
The second game saw Crown get the first run of the game in the top of the first with a groundout from
Catelyn Garza which scored
Madi Hecox. Carleton would score the next 3 runs through the end of the 4th inning. A double from
Maliya Martinez in the top of the 5th scored
Ashley Earick and Crown cut the lead to 3-2. A sacrifice fly from Lilienthal would tie the game up at 3 going into the bottom of the 5th. Crown blanked the knights in the 5th but struggled to get the bats going in the final stretch of the game as the Knights would score 2 runs in the bottom of the 6th and Crown would drop the second game 5-3.
Lilienthal led the way with 4 RBI's after her three run home run and the sacrifice fly.
Itzel Valles added three hits on the weekend to lead the Polars women.
Ashley Earick led the pitching for Crown pitching another complete game.
The Crown women return to action on Friday, March 3rd for a doubleheader with Augsburg at 5:30pm and 7:30pm.
