Chaska, Minn. – The Crown men's and women's golf teams hit the links for the second time this fall on Thursday, matching up with Macalester College in their second dual meet of the season. Both the men and women took home wins over the Scots, with both teams improving their team scores from the opening meet of the season.
On the women's side, Crown improved their team score by 27 strokes, shooting a 394 team score. The Polars were led by first-year
Lexi Thomas who carded a 97.
Kylee Nutt's 98,
Kendall Clark's 99, and an even 100 from
Bethany Habbena rounded out the team score. The Scot's women played well, but only had three players so were unable to field a team score.
Allie Johnson and
Riley Houser also competed for the Polars.
The Polar men were led by co-medalists
Tyler Stonecipher and
Lane Thomas who each shot two-over rounds of 74. An 80 from
Adam Thomas and an 81 from
Drake Dawson rounded out a fine team score of 309, nine shots better than the host Scots.
A big story for the Polar men will be their depth as they had two other players shoot rounds in the 80's and could have a handful of different players go very low on any given day.
Both teams will face off against conference foe Bethany Lutheran in Mankato next Tuesday before heading to the UMAC preview event at Pebble Creek Golf Club in Becker on Thursday.
