Crown College is thrilled to share its new branding and nickname for athletics. On May 4, 2022, President Andrew C. Denton shared the updated athletic logo and nickname. Beginning in Fall 2022, Crown College's athletic teams will be known as the Crown Polars.
Since the polar bear became Crown College's athletic mascot in 2020, students, faculty, and staff have rallied around it because it reflects the values of our boldly Christian College and fierce athletic department.
The polar bear is family and community-oriented. It is known for being playful yet fierce, quick yet methodical, and strategic. Polar bears can withstand the harshest of weather and competition.
The new mark champions the polar bear, has a tree line to highlight the 215 acres of land our main campus is located on, provides a fiercer look, and embraces the beautiful winters Minnesota is credited with.
After several meetings with students, athletic leaders, alumni, and administration, the decision was made to solidify Crown College Athletics' banner name, Polars. This is the final step of a multi-year process that resulted in a completed athletic brand family.
"As we move into this new decade of excellence and growth as a College, we're determined to take our athletics program to the next level. This updated brand and athletic identity represent the distinction and excellence we strive for in Crown Athletics," said President Denton.
Director of Athletics Mike Vigue, "We are thrilled to have a fresh, new logo and identity that allows us to enhance the Crown Athletics brand visually. We believe this is a foundational piece in helping to create a unique and distinct college athletic brand that Crown's student-athletes, staff, alumni, and future students will be proud to represent. We are proud of the history and traditions established at Crown, and we hope this will continue moving us forward as we pursue excellence."
Even with the updated visual identity and a new nickname, Crown College Athletics maintains its philosophy of creating Christ-centered leaders and champions in the classroom, in competition, and in the community.
