Becker, Minn. – The Crown men's golf team posted the second-best round Saturday in the final round of the 54-hold UMAC Championship, finishing in third place overall as a team. Unfortunately, the best round of the day meant that UW-Superior pulled away from the pack to claim a dramatic, come-from-behind, two-shot victory over Northwestern (Minn.).
The Polars finished at +119 for the tournament, 24 strokes back from the champion Yellowjackets and 12 stroked ahead of fourth place Bethany Lutheran.
Lane Thomas finished in seventh place individually on the back of a final-round 78 that was the low score for the Polars on Saturday and the third best round of the day by an golfer.
Tyler Stonecipher finished in a tie for 11
th overall after shooting a final round 83.
Titus Wookey shot a final-round 84 and finished in 13
th and
Drake Dawson finished tied for 14
th after a final round 87.
Adam Thomas shot 94 on Saturday, after leading the team in round two, and finished tied for 25
th.
The Polars wrap up a very solid fall season with the third place finish, their best conference tournament finish since 2015 when the then Storm won the title.
