WACONIA, Minn. --- Crown College Men's Golf defeated Martin Luther College today 3-2 as they competed for the first time this season. Titus Wookie led the Storm performance, as he bested the No. 2 MLC Golfer John Fix 9-3. Matt Yerke and Rey Cantu additionally won their matches 7-3 and 7-5 respectively to lead the Storm to victory. Drake Dawson put together the Crown's second-best performance, but unfortunately, he lost his match 9-3, and Lane Thomas lost a close set in the No. 1 spot 8-5 to make up the Storm scorers.
For those unfamiliar with match play, each hole is a competition, and the player who wins more individual holes of golf wins the match. Therefore, when Wookie defeated Fix 9-3, he won nine holes, lost three, and tied the remaining six. This style of play allows for head-to-head competition on every hole and doesn't necessarily award the winner to the lowest total score (though that happened in this match). The scores, in parentheses below, are only used as tie-breakers. Additionally, only the top five golfers make up competition, with the remaining golfers unscored.
