ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. --- Crown College Athletics welcomes Ashlyn Englehorn as the new Head Softball Coach. The Storm had a national search that concluded with the hiring of the former lead Assistant Coach at Willamette University, an NCAA Division III school based in Salem, Oregon.
"We couldn't be more excited to bring Ashlyn to our team and for the direction of our softball program," said Assistant Athletic Director, Peter Ingraham. "She brings a passion for the game that is unmatched and will be a fantastic fit for our campus community."
Englehorn played collegiate softball at Corban University, an NAIA institution, as a first baseman and utility player. During her junior season, she helped her team compete in the national championship, ending their remarkable playoff run as the national runner-up. That season, the team earned the George Pasero Team of the Year honor at the Oregon Sports Awards. Englehorn was a member of the Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athlete Team and made her All-Conference Academic Team three times.
After her playing career, she became the Head Assistant Coach at Willamette University, where she has served for the past three seasons. Englehorn brings a passion for developing students both on and off the field. Like so many Crown students when they first arrived, Englehorn had a strong feeling of home after visiting the campus.
"[Crown College] holds true to the values I know and believe in and is exactly where I want to coach because I can help develop the players on and off the field, meeting them where they're at to become better human beings," said Englehorn. "It's not all about softball; there's a big picture that we're playing for and an audience of one that we're preparing our lives for."
Englehorn was born and raised in Boise, Idaho, and in free time, she enjoys nature with her sixth-month-old golden retriever, Rosie. Ashlyn and Rosie will join the Crown community this August.
