Taylor Scores in Final Minute to Propel Storm to 2-1 Win Over Northland

ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. --- Crown College Women's Soccer opened their season on Friday afternoon with a matchup against the Northland Lumberjills. Despite being in April, the weather was warm despite a strong wind. The Storm used the wind to their advantage as Abby Taylor scored a corner kick that curved perfectly, bouncing over the goalkeeper's head the final minute of regulation to defeat the Lumberjills 2-1.

Joining Taylor in the scoring column was first-year Emma Domka, who recorded her first goal in her first collegiate soccer game. Domka led the Storm in shots with six in the contest, three on target. In goal for the Storm was Molly Schmitz, who recorded nine saves and allowed only one goal in her first start from the net.

This win over the Lumberjills was the first over Northland since their 2008 campaign. The Storm will continue their shortened season with a game on Tuesday at the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth.
