Crown College to Allow Home Fans for Outdoor Spring Sports

ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. --- Crown College Athletics is pleased to announce that limited spectators will be allowed for their upcoming outdoor sports. Baseball, football, soccer, and softball will all permit some fans at varying amounts per Minnesota Department of Health guidelines. After delegating to the experts, MDH staff cleared Crown to allow fans.

There will be no away fans admitted, as Crown will only welcome two guests per Storm athlete and Crown College students, faculty, and staff until new capacity limits are met. Masks and social distancing between households will be required, and failure to comply with these rules will result in a spectator's ban for the rest of the semester.

For those who wish to attend games as an athlete's guest, the link will be provided by the head coach or student-athlete, which also includes health screening. The Storm will admit anyone with an active Crown College ID and record attendance for possible contact tracing. Crown Athletics still asks to act with caution and request that there be no congregating of Crown students with family after games, whether on-campus or off-campus.

"We are excited to welcome back a portion of our fans safely," said Assistant Athletic Director Peter Ingraham. "After working with campus officials, MDH, and our athletics staff, we have found a solution that will allow people back in the stands as the vaccine continues to roll out. We are expecting next year to be back at full capacity."

If you have questions about the spectator policy, please contact Peter Ingraham at 952-446-4108 or [email protected].

Below you will find the full spectator policy for the rest of the semester.

Outdoor Fan Policy, Spring 2021

Beginning Tuesday, March 23, all Crown student-athletes will be permitted two guests. Registration/Health Screening through a link provided by a team's head coach must be completed 24 hours prior to arrival at the complex. Upon arrival at the stadium, fans will need to check-in at the gate, indicating they are permitted to be in attendance. Guests not registered within 24 hours of the scheduled contest's start will not be allowed entry to the sports complex.

Based on the number of guests registered for a specific contest, the remaining allowable occupancy will be given to Crown students, faculty, and staff on a first-come, first-served basis. There will be no visiting fans allowed at any Crown-hosted sporting events this semester.

All fans attending outdoor sporting events will be required to abide by Crown College and Minnesota Department of Health safety protocols. These include correctly wearing a mask at all times and maintaining proper physical distancing from other attendees, requirements for anyone who is visiting school grounds. Failure to follow these rules may result in the spectator's dismissal from campus.

The maximum occupancy of the various athletic spaces are as follows (50% of maximum):

Baseball – 150 spectators permitted within the gated facility.
Softball – 150 spectators permitted within the gated facility.
Football/Soccer – 650 spectators permitted within the gated facility.
