St. Bonifacius, MN – Crown College Department of Athletics is thrilled to announce Michael Vigue as the department's new Director of Athletics, beginning January 10, 2022. Vigue will oversee all 16 NCAA Division III varsity athletics programs competing in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference.
"My wife, Maddie, and I are extremely blessed and excited to be joining the Crown Family. I would like to thank President Denton and Vice President
Travis Whipple for allowing me the opportunity to be a part of what God is building at Crown College. It is evident that God's faithful hand has been upon Crown, and there is incredible excitement and vision for the future. It is an amazing time to be involved with this program. Anyone who knows me well knows the passion I have for development and team building."
Since graduating from Southeastern University with a Bachelor of Science and his Master of Business Administration, with a concentration in Sports Management, Vigue has served multiple roles in Athletics. In 2015, he moved into an Athletics Marketing & Promotions Assistant role, where he was responsible for coordinating marketing, communication, and promotional activities related to Southeastern athletics. In May of 2016, Vigue took over as the school's Assistant Athletic Director and has been in that role with the school ever since. As Assistant Athletic Director, Vigue handled the day-to-day oversight of Southeastern Universities athletic operations, athletic facilities, and equipment.
Before his time at Southeastern University, Vigue was a Senior Admissions Counselor at Florida Southern College from 2011-2014. He played a vital role as the Assistant Athletic Liaison connecting the admissions office with athletics and helping guide athletes and their families through the admissions cycle. In this role, Vigue also assisted coaches in recruiting athletes to ensure the admissions, financial aid, and NCAA eligibility process was followed correctly.
"We are thrilled that Mike will join our team to lead the Department of Athletics," said Vice President of College Relations
Travis Whipple. "During the process, it was evident that he cares deeply about enhancing the student-athlete experience, he fits Crown exceptionally well, brings outstanding experiences, and believes in the vision of graduating champions and leaders. Please join us in welcoming Mike, Maddie, and their family to Crown in the days ahead!"
Vigue said, "I look forward to continuing to help build an athletic department centered around Jesus Christ and loving and serving people. Maddie and I can't wait to join the incredible staff that is already pouring into the lives of Crown's student-athletes."
"I would also like to express my appreciation to those who served on the search committee and Athletics Staffing and Consultants for their assistance," Whipple said.
