Ashland, Wis. – The Crown men's soccer team continued their UMAC road trip with an afternoon game at Northland College on Saturday. The Lumberjacks raced out to a 6-0 lead before Crown grabbed two late consolation goals to make the final score 6-2.
After the host Jacks controlled much of the first 80 minutes, Crown found a breakthrough when Josh Cannon pressured the Northland keeper after a back pass and nearly took the ball off the shot stopper. The Northland player apparently took umbrage to the pressure, shoving Cannon from behind after the ball had gone, earning himself a yellow card and giving Crown a penalty kick.
Tim Jaeger stepped up and coolly sent the keeper the wrong way, rolling the ball into the net to get the Storm on the board.
Just before full time, Jaeger again was involved as Crown worked a short corner and the German slid an inviting pass to Eli Salisbury who finished first time to double Crown's total.
The Storm return home for a huge UMAC contest this Wednesday as both the men and women host Martin Luther.
