Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women’s Soccer Falls by Single Goal to Morris

St. Bonifacius, Minn. – In a conference game that was rescheduled from the opening week of the season, the Crown women's soccer team hosted Minnesota Morris on Tuesday afternoon.  After trailing 2-0, the Storm got one back with just under 15 minutes remaining but were unable to find the equalizer and fell by a final of 2-1.

The injury crisis that has faced the Storm only intensified in the last week as Ashley Pierce was lost to a knee injury and the home team entered this match with only a single substitute named in the matchday squad.

That substitute, Dabilo Maphosa, made quite the impact, however, scoring Crown's lone goal after a great free kick from Emma Domka.  Re-starting play from her own half, Domka played a great ball in behind the Morris defense and Maphosa turned up the pace, beating a Cougar defender to the ball and finishing smartly for her first collegiate goal.

Molly Schmitz kept the Storm within striking distance, recording four of her 12 saves after Crown's goal, but the hosts couldn't muster another attempt on target.

Crown returns to action this weekend with another back-to-back conference weekend, traveling to Bethany Lutheran and Martin Luther.
