St. Paul, Minn. – Despite a significant disparity in shots and playing a man down for nearly the last half hour, the Crown men's soccer team gave UNW all they could handle on Saturday.
The Eagles fired 32 shots on the day, with 11 on target, but nine
Foster Browning saves kept the Storm within striking distance.
Crown's
Cole Matthys was sent off on 63 minutes to put Crown a man down for the second consecutive day. Northwestern took advantage less than one minute later to finally break through and find a 1-0 lead.
Crown would hold firm for the next 20 plus minutes before the Eagles found the vital second goal in the 88
th minute.
Crown showed great fight, however, scoring just eleven seconds later on a
Santiago Ciro goal. Yanik Wherli assisted on the play.
Unfortunately, there would be no further drama and the Eagles escaped with the 2-1 win.
Crown head to Bethany Lutheran next Friday as they enter the final few weeks of UMAC play.
