UMAC Football, Soccer, Volleyball Pursuing Move to Spring

Cross Country and Golf Set to Happen This Fall

ST. PAUL, Minn. --- After several months of discussions, the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Council of Presidents and Chancellors have decided that football, volleyball, men's soccer, and women's soccer's conference competition are pursuing the opportunity to move to Spring 2021. Golf and cross country, both deemed lower-risk sports by the NCAA, are going to be allowed to compete this fall and are set to have UMAC Championship events. Student-athletes in football, soccer, and volleyball will have practices during the fall to get ready for the spring season and their coach will reach out to each individual with specifics.

"This difficult decision is to ensure that our general student population will be on campus for face to face instruction this fall," said Director of Athletics Jamie Ross. "The safety for students on campus and for our student-athletes is the highest priority. This compromise allows our student-athletes to still have competition this spring, which is a priority for Crown's administration."

The UMAC is exploring the potential of holding conference championships this spring for the football, soccer, and volleyball. In addition, the UMAC is allowing non-conference competition among member institutions of all eligible sports during the fall; each university is allowed to pursue their own non-conference schedules as they deem fit.

The COVID-19 situation is still an on-going pandemic, so the current situation is still subject to change. Crown College Athletics is doing everything in its power to achieve a safe and fantastic experience available to all students and student-athletes.
