ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. --- Crown competed close with the UMAC favorite on Wednesday night but fell just short to the St. Scholastica Saints 1-2.
Crown's defense held strong throughout the game, and a late goal by senior
Storm Heyer gave the team a fighting chance through the end. The goal happened after a shot attempt by
Igor Shevchenko went off the CSS keeper into the footing of Heyer, who launched it from deep over the Scholastica goalie.
There were four yellow cards in the game, including two on Storm players:
Jakob Grein and
Ger Jones. Junior
Mason Shrewsbury led the Storm with four shots, and senior keeper
Eli Etzel had six saves and only two goals allowed against the Saints.
The Crown men now head to the northern suburbs for a game against the MIAC's Bethel University on Saturday.
