SUPERIOR, Wis. --- Crown College's historic Men's Soccer season concluded on Wednesday afternoon, after falling to the UW-Superior Yellowjackets 2-6 in the second round of the UMAC Playoffs. Crown stayed with the Yellowjackets through a half, with the game tied at one apiece. The Storm then took the lead in the early second half, as Monday's hero
Storm Heyer once again made his impact scoring his fourth career postseason goal. However, Superior countered quickly with two goals in the next two minutes of play to retake the lead and never looked back.
In the first half, it was senior
Kirby Shetler that was able to find the back of the net for the Storm after fellow senior
Ger Jones' corner gave Crown an opportunity. Shetler continued his solid performance in the second half, as he set a perfect through ball to the flying Heyer, who scored on an outside break shot past the keeper.
Crown only had three shots in the match, two of which coming from the senior Heyer, and one coming on Shetler's goal. The Storm were outshot 31-3 by the Yellowjackets. Senior keeper
Eli Etzel had an impressive night with eight saves.
Crown concludes their season with their first ever advance past the first round of the UMAC Tournament, and the Yellowjackets move on to face the #2 seeded St. Scholastica Saints on Saturday. Information about that game and the UMAC Postseason Tournament in general can be found at
