St. Bonifacius, Minn. — Crown's men's soccer team hoped to keep momentum after a great win against Bethel on Saturday, but lost a tough battle to another MIAC, Augsburg, falling to the Auggies 1-2. The team had three balls off the post in a hard fought game that went down to the final minutes.
Augsburg struck first in the 13th minute, on Crown keeper
Justin Lao. After Lao and an Augsburg player collided in the 21st minute, reigning UMAC Defensive Player of the Week,
Eli Etzel, came in to finish the game as goalkeeper. Eztel had six saves and allowed one goal in the 61st minute. However, the Crown team showed life after that second goal, and
Caleb Baumann scored his first goal of the season just before the 70th minute. Baumann scored on a pass from
Caleb Schluessler.
Mason Shrewsbury led Crown with two shots on goal, with
Ger Jones and
Jason Kragt also having two shots in the game.
Crown next goes to Carleton for their fourth MIAC game in a row.
