Superior, Wis. — Crown softball split the series in Superior as they played their seventh and eighth UMAC games of the season. They lost game one 0-1, but were able to come back and win the second game 6-1. Crown is now 7-1 in UMAC play as the season continues. The star of the games was pitcher
Lis King, who now is the single owner of the Crown season home run record as she hit a two-run home run in the sixth inning of game two. King also pitched both games, allowing only two earned runs in 13.1 innings.
In game one, the only extra base hit for Crown came from second baseman
Olivia Dols, and shortstop
Marissa Becerra was the only Crown player to have multiple hits (going 2/2 with a walk). However, their seven hits didn't amount to any runs; the game was tied at zero until the bottom of the seventh when Superior's first baseman hit a game-winning single.
In game two, the Crown bats came alive as
Moriah Sawyer and
Janelle Williams both had two hits; Sawyer and
Lis King both had two RBIs in the contest. When King hit her seventh home run of the season in the sixth inning, she became the sole owner of Crown's single season home run record. King is batting .373 with 21 RBIs this season and with her 13.1 innings and only two earned runs, her ERA dropped to 3.27 in 113 total innings.
Crown next plays away at Bethany Lutheran on the 19th.
