Dulaney No-Hitter Highlights Softball Sweep

St. Bonifacius, Minn. - After losing two close games to UMAC leader UW - Superior on Saturday, Crown needed to get back on track on Tuesday afternoon against the Bethany Lutheran College Vikings.  Crown is seeking back to back appearances in the UMAC postseason tourney for the first time ever, and they are in the thick of the race.  Crown picked up two key UMAC wins over the Vikings winning game one 10-0 and game two 5-1.

Game 1

Crown opened up a 1-0 lead on a stolen base turned run with an error by the catcher in the bottom of the second inning.  Crown would tack on nine more runs in the bottom of the third getting RBI hits from Cassidy Valenzuela, Sofia Palacios, Moriah Sawyer, and Marissa Becerra.  Crown was also aided by several fielding and throwing errors committed by the Vikings.  Crown's six hits came from six different batters as Sawyer led in RBIs with her three RBI single in the third inning.  Liz King pitched in the win holding the Vikings to two hits over five innings, striking out four and walking zero.

Game 2

Cearra Dulaney pitched a no-hitter in the second game of the day as she went the distance over seven innings.  Dulaney flirted with a perfect game as she only walked two batters, and the Vikings only scored their one run on a combination error, wild pitch, and passed ball.  She also struck out struck out five over the game.  It was certainly her day defensively Crown gobbled up ground balls and even had a pop fly bounce of a diving Demi Brezina's foot into the glove of Sarah Petkau for a crucial out.  Offensively, Crown battled Viking ace Anna Pipenhagen earning one run on a Dulaney single in the second inning.  The score would remain 1-0 through the 5th inning where Crown would pick up three more runs on some errors by the Vikings defense for a 4-0 lead.  Crown gave up the odd run in the top of the 6th, and Janelle Williams hit an RBI single in the bottom of the 6th for added insurance.
