Auggies Take Two From Storm

St. Bonifacius, Minn. - Crown welcomed Augsburg to St. Bonifacius on a sunny Monday afternoon seeking to steal a couple more non conference games before UMAC season play starts.  Crown had previously beaten Augsburg 2-1 twice on the first two games of the season in the Augsburg Dome.  The Auggies got some revenge on Monday as they brought their bats for a two game sweep of the Storm 11-0 and 14-2.

Game 1

Augsburg used a two out rally in the second inning to blow open a 2-0 lead.  After Crown had a missed rotation on a bunt, the Auggies had a bases clearing double and an RBI single to score a total of six runs in the inning for a 6-0 lead.  Crown only managed five hits over the course of six innings and stranded six baserunners as they could not convert hits to runs.  Marissa Becerra led the team offensively with a two for two performance with a walk.  Liz King went two for three from the plate with a double while Janelle Williams also hit a double and went one for three from the plate.  Cearra Dulaney pitched in the loss striking out two and walking two.

Game 2

Crown lost an ugly game two committing seven errors over the course of five innings leading to a 14-2 loss.  Augsburg opened up a 2-0 game in the top of the first inning, but Crown answered in the bottom of the second getting RBI singles from Hannah Allebach and Janelle Williams to even the score 2-2.  Augsburg scored two more in the top of the fourth on two errors committed by Crown.  The Auggies would tack on ten more runs in the fifth for the final score of 14-2.  Offensively, Williams went two for three from the plate while five other girls collected one hit including doubles from Sofia Palacios and Sarah Petkau.  Liz King pitched, striking out one while allowing six earned runs and walking none.
