St. Bonifacius, Minn. – Crown's women's team tied 1-1 with Grace University (NE) on Friday afternoon after two overtime periods couldn't produce a goal by either team.
Crown scored first on an outlet pass by junior
Susanna Pjecha (Meadville, Penn./Calvary Baptist) to freshman Anna Kraht (Milaca, Minn./Black Forest Academy), who was able to find the back of the net in the first half. That was Crown's only shot of the first half, but they made it count, going into halftime up 1-0.
Senior
Emily Kirby put up a spectacular performance in goal and even made a diving play to stop a penalty kick by Grace's Aubrey Raymond. However, despite a miraculous 26 saves by senior goalkeeper
Emily Kirby, one broke through on Raymond's 15th shot of the game in the 71st minute.
The game stood still from there, no one else was able to score resulting in a tie between Grace and Crown.
Crown next plays in a home game against Presentation on Tuesday at 3:30 pm.
