St. Bonifacius, Minn. – Crown women's soccer team held them close, but couldn't find the back of the net to beat Northwestern (MN), falling 0-1 on Wednesday night.
Senior goalkeeper
Emily Kirby (Andover, Minn./Legacy Christian) had a fantastic day guarding the net, only allowing the one goal and taking away tons of crosses, limiting the scoring opportunities for Northwestern to take an early lead. She had a shutout through the first half and only Northwestern's Emily Goeppinger's goal in the 68th minute got passed her.
Crown had several opportunities to score, with sophomore
Katelyn Carter (Mesa, Ariz./Mountain View) barely missing on a free kick and a failed breakaway attempt by freshman
Anna Kragt (Milaca, Minn./Black Forest Academy) in the 89th minute.
Crown's women's team nears a close to their season, playing Grace at 4 pm on Friday at home in St. Bonifacius.
