Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Struggles on Opening Weekend

Northfield, Minn. – The Crown men's soccer team opened up regular season play this past weekend by travelling to Grinnell and Carleton for a pair of non-conference contests.  The Storm fell by a 5-0 score on Friday in Iowa, then dropped an 8-0 decision to Carleton on Saturday.

Antonio Dimarco netted four times for the Pioneers of Grinnell College, who enjoyed the lion's share of possession, outshooting Crown 26-2.

Nathan Reichenbach made 10 saves for Crown, but that effort would not be enough as Crown could muster only a single shot on goal.

Saturday would be more of the same as the host Knights fired 29 shots at the Crown goal, while the Storm managed just two attempts, neither of which was on target.

Justin Lao made eight saves, but faced a flurry of shots, including several breakaways throughout the course of the game.  Carleton won 10 corners to Crown's zero, thoroughly dominating the action for 90 minutes.

Crown will return home for a final non-conference tune-up on Wednesday, as they host Nebraska Wesleyan for a 7:15 pm start.
