Milwaukee, Wis. – The Crown women's soccer team had a big question entering the 2015 season. Who would score goals with
Megan Wright graduating? The team answered that question and more on the opening week of the season, getting goals from five different players in a pair of 5-0 road wins.
The team took on Alverno College and Mt. Mary College in back to back games on the weekend, winning by identical margins and getting a pair of outstanding offensive performances.
On Friday,
Tiffany Krueger netted a hat trick to lead Crown to a win over Alverno. Freshman
Keisha Prafke, who scored in Crown's exhibition win, and Dani Palm each added goals and the duo of
Marissa Becerra and
Andra Hiebert combined to make nine saves en route to the shutout win.
Another exciting freshman addition,
Rochelle Perzel, added a pair of assists in the game.
Saturday would feature four goal scorers as Crown once again used a multi-faceted offensive attack to put pressure on the opposing defense.
Prafke netted twice more, while
Susanna Pjecha, Perzel, and Krueger each added goals.
Yet another impressive freshman,
Katelyn Carter, added two assists, while midfield general
Emily Kirby also contributed a helper.
Crown once again used both of their keepers, who once again kept a clean sheet, combining for 10 saves.
With Crown clicking on all cylinders, the team will welcome Nebraska Wesleyan to campus next Wednesday for their final non-conference tune-up leading into UMAC play.
