St. Paul, Minn. – The 2014 season wrapped up in a flurry of goals for the Crown women's soccer team as the Storm won 2-1 on Friday and dropped their season finale 5-2 on Saturday night. Crown finishes the year with a 5-14-1 overall record and a 3-11 mark in the UMAC.
Megan Wright netted both goals on Friday, within five minutes of each other, to give Crown the 2-1 win. Wright's first goal came on a converted penalty kick, Crown's first attempt of the season, and her second was assisted by
Tiffany Krueger.
Hillary Brondsema made one save to earn the victory in goal.
Wright would convert a second penalty the next night, pulling Crown to within 3-1 near the end of the first half. After Northwestern scored a late goal to take a 4-1 lead into halftime, senior
Mary Voss scored in her final collegiate performance to cut the deficit to two.
The Eagles would add a fifth goal late, and Crown couldn't muster any further scoring, ending their season with the 5-2 loss. Brondsema made 11 saves in her final college game, finishing her career as the all-time saves leader for the Storm.
