Track & Field Compete in First Meet


St. Paul, Minnesota - Crown College competed in their first indoor track meet this past Friday at the University of St. Thomas Invite.  In all, Crown competed against St. Thomas, Bethel, Concordia-St. Paul,  Jamestown, Valley City State men's and women's teams, with some Minnesota Gopher and unattached athletes also competing.

Crown's Josh Coleman had the highest place finishing ninth in the 200 meter dash with a time of 2:12.83.  Michael Elmhorst finished nineteenth in the 3000 meter with a time of 11:28.71.  Sam Kes ran a 26.89 in the 200 meter dash, best of the Crown runners in that race.  Grant Roethel finished eleventh in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 10.58. Jalen Phoenix led the throwers with a eleventh place finish in the shotput with an 11.65 meter throw. Robert Smartnick, Everett Hawk, Casey Hercula, and Brian Howard also threw shot.  Hercula was Crown's best finisher in the weight throw with a throw of 7.74 meters.

Sarah Holmquist participated in both the women's one mile run and the 3000 meter run for the Storm while Tessa Grund threw both the shot and the weight throw on the women's side.
