Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Season Ends in UMAC Semifinals for Men's Soccer

Duluth, Minn. – Head Coach Alex Reyes got more than he bargained for in his first season at the helm of the Crown men's soccer program, unexpectedly leading the Storm to the UMAC postseason after two straight years in the bottom half of the league table.  The team's run would end on Tuesday, however, with a 6-0 loss to undefeated St. Scholastica in the UMAC Semifinals.

The Storm finished the regular season as the conference's fourth seed, dropping behind Northwestern with a loss on the final day of the regular season.  That seeding led to a trip to Duluth to face the 14-0 Saints with a spot in the UMAC Championship game on the line.

The Storm prepared a unique defensive game-plan for the Saints, but even some thoughtful adjustments couldn't hold back the conference's top team as the Saints built a 2-0 halftime lead before pouring it on in the second half to win by a comfortable 6-0 margin.

Crown was able to manufacture a couple of good chances late, but a Ger Jones shot was headed away by a defender on its way to goal and Truman Shetler was denied by a great save to turn away Crown's best opportunities.

The Storm finish the 2014 season with an overall record of 9-9-2 including the playoff loss, a huge jump from last year's 4-13-1 mark.

A full recap of the season highlights, record breaking performances, and march to the UMAC playoffs will be published in the coming weeks.
